John Robinson from Lincoln was unable to attend due
to a road accident affecting his travel to our venue,
so thankfully Mike Jarrold stepped in to save the dayin
judging the Britich & Foreign sections)

Our
latest Members Show was a great event with a fantastic
173 birds benched. All bird entries, food and drink on
the day were provided free of charge by GBS and this went
some way to making it yet another successful day for the
club.

GBS Chairman Stuart Randell's fine Gloster won the Bristos
Tarvia Cup. v
v
Norman Chapman won both the Marriot and Fletcher trophies
with his Best Java sparrow and Best Foreign Bird in show.
v
v
Paul
Cumbers' birds achieved the Best Zebra Finch in
show.
v
John Willows won 2 prizes with best Border Canary and
best Norwich canary

Jim Mear won the Crawshaw Cup with his Best beginner and
best breeder Budgie entries.

The Best Bengalese in show was awarded
to Trevor Woodruff.v
v
The overall Best Budgerigar in show
award went to Steve Speed
Jim Moreton's Fife was awarded Best
Champion and Tom Fountain won the Best Novice Fife ~ Tom
is shown on the left.

The
judge on the evening of our 2008 U/F Canary & Young
Stock show was our long time good friend, Mr Derek Robinson
from Lincoln.

12 Foreign bird entries were benched.

Those attending saw 8 British bird entries.

12 fine looking Glosters were benched.

8 Budgies of a good standard and colour selection were
viewed.

members were presented by President Barbara Cragg with Cage
& Aviary Newspaper Diplomas in recognition of their
recent successes at our Open show and also in thanks for

Yet
another successful Open Show for Grantham Bird Society
with the the show hall being full to capacity. The Fife
section was an impressive and growing 100 plus birds with
a high standard being shown across the classes. The Foreign
section is developing also with over 40 birds entered
and new exhibitors coming to Grantham for the first time
in all sections, one exhibitor even travelled from Shrewsbury.
The British birds was a small but still a very interesting
class

our April 2008 nest feather & buffet. We also had
a great talk on Budgies from our judge on the evening,
Mr Tony Adey.
Over 20 Budgies were benched on the night.
