Brian Cragg, Grantham Bird Society Secretary invites you to see his set up and some of his birds.

A little background on Brian
Brian first taster into birds and bird keeping was when he was just 10 years of age when he saw a friends Dad get his son some Budgies, soon after Brian's Mum got him some Budgies and a small shed for the garden.

In the time that followed Brian's birds both bred and sold very well, he kept birds for some time until he began to court his wife Barbara and he stopped keeping them all together when he got married. Eventually Brian started keeping birds again by keeping Cockatiels and other species, soon he felt he wanted to show his birds and has slowly but steadily moved from Beginner to Intermediate with his best result so far being his first Championship Certificate at the 2006 Notts & Derby BS, this was acheived with a Dominant Pied Green bird. Brian has also done fairly well recently with his Spangles.

Brian has not really got a favourite colour Budgerigar but if asked he would say he really likes the Yellow Faced Spangles but he feels as long as bird has got the show quality he desires colour doesn't really come into it.

Brian and Grantham Bird Society
Brian has been a member since 1996 and has been seriously involved in the Grantham Bird Society as Secretary for the last 3 years and has been instrumental in turning the society around, gaining new membrs and working to making the society the forward thinking friendly group of hobbyists that it is today.

Left, Brian inspecting his breeding cages and birds in his inner birdroom, Brian has currently got a total of 16 breeding cages to use if he wishes.

Left, young birds in one of the two roomy inner flightcages, these flight cages are well lit by natural daylight from the windows looking out into a large outer flight connected to the front of the bird room.

Right, Brian looking over some of the young he has bred in 2007 that are in the flight cage featured above. Is there a show winner there Brian?

Behind Brian are just a few of the diplomas his Budgies have won him over the years.
