Steve Nesbitt who is the Grantham Bird Society webmaster invites you to see his set up and some of his birds.

On the left is Steve's 21 foot by 6 foot birdroom complex. The birdroom measures 11 x 6 and the covered flight area is 10 x 6.

The birdroom holds 19 cages of differing sizes and the flight complex has got 4 large flight cages and a 6 foot x 3 foot flight.

On the right the inside of Steve's birdroom can be seen, showing some of the 9 roomy breeding cages that suit many types of foreign bird.

There are more breeding cages for Steve's birds in the birdroom where he can breed from a total of 15 pairs if he wanted to.

Steve's long time favourite bird is the Normal wild type Java sparrow. Some of Steve's 2007 bred Normals can be seen on the left.

Steve is a founder member of the Java Sparrow Society UK which grew from a breeder database on his personal website called S N Aviaries.

Steve has a new website about Java sparrows only at www.justjavas.co.uk

Alongside the free breeding Javas Steve keeps the more difficult and close relative of the Java - the Timor Sparrow, shown on the right.

At the moment he has 2/3 pairs (sexing these birds is difficult) and hopes to work with friends also keeping the species to successfully breed them.
